Violation of SOPs root cause for virus spread: Dr Sasheekumar

Additional director (health) Dr Sasheekumar Mangang has stated that violation of SOPs in gathering of people in streets and localities are the main reasons for widespread transmission of Covid-19.He was attending a daylong advocacy programme cum panel discussion for Faith based Organisations (FBOs) organised by State Health Society, National Health Mission at Diocesan Social Service Society, Mantripukhri on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Dr Sasheekumar observed that people could be seen gathering during this pandemic time without any care for wearing masks or maintaining social distancing and such recklessness lead to high positivity rate that is being witnessed in the second wave of Covid-9 pandemic.
He then appealed to all to stop gathering leisurely and help in containing the situation and also urged all to stay at home and come out when absolutely necessary.
Dr Sasheekumar also stressed the need to wear mask as far as possible even at home saying it will help in preventing spread of the virus among family members.
Asserting that vaccination is the only lasting solution to the current health crisis, he urged all eligible individuals to get vaccinated and not to believe in rumours.
NHM state mission director Dr N Shyamjai also spoke on the importance of vaccination in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
