11 dengue cases in Manipur

Imphal, October 05 2015:
The total number of dengue cases in Manipur currently stands at 11 after five more samples in Churachandpur District were found positive after tests.
Thirteen samples were collected in Churachandpur District alone on October 3 .
Out of the 13, five samples were found positive while eight samples were negative.
Six cases were already reported earlier.
It may be recalled that dengue outbreak was reported in Churachandpur in 2010 .
The health officials of the district have been put on alert and authorities have begun issuing advisories in the identified zones.
The authorities have appealed to the residents to keep their surroundings clean.
Health officials have launched fogging operations in the remote villages of Churachandpur Districts and preventive steps have been taken.
Dengue 'corners' have been opened in Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment of people affected by dengue.
Free test facility is available at JNIMS for those referred by qualified doctors.
The State Health Directorate has instructed responsible authorities in other districts to be vigilant so that it is not spread to other places.
