Imphal, September 04 2018:
While appreciating that the cease work strike launched by senior resident doctors of JNIMS since August 21 has been suspended for 30 days, HERICOUN has appealed to all concerned to avert such disruption of healthcare services at public hospitals including JNIMS.
Speaking to media persons at their Palace Gate office, HERICOUN secretary general Y Surjitkumar Khuman said that the cease work strike was suspended after Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar convened a joint meeting of doctors on strike and JNIMS authority last Sunday.
It would be a matter of grave concern if the points agreed at the meeting are not translated into action and the senior resident doctors of JNIMS are compelled to resume their strike after 30 days, he said.
If the demands of the senior resident doctors are seen as reasonable, their demands should be fulfilled within 30 days.
On the other hands, if their demands are seen as unreasonable, the concerned authority should come out with a convincing clarification, Surjitkumar Khuman said.
Senior resident doctors of JNIMS launched cease work strike demanding revision of their service rules and opening of promotion avenues and other benefits since August 21 and it was suspended temporarily for 30 days on September 2 after a meeting was held with JNIMS at the initiative of Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar.
