Bomb threat inside WIGC campus

Police this morning recovered a Chinese made hand grenade from the campus of the Women Income Generation Centre (WIGC) located at Thoubal Wangmataba under Thoubal Police Station.
Oinam Indira who runs the centre while condemning the unfortunate incident said that she had not received any monetary demand or any kind of threat in her career of 15 years since she began WIGC to help poor housewives.
Terming the incident unfortunate which came after she appealed to the Election Commission to check around 3000 fake voters registered in the constituency, she said that she came out to contest the ensuing general election against present Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi.
The bomb was found by Indira this morning near the gate of the centre.
Expressing suspicion of rival candidates, Indira appealed to the Home Minister of the state to increase security patrol near the campus of the centre.
She also said that WIGC is not related with her contesting the election and appealed not to repeat such act in future.
The bomb was recovered by a bomb expert team of Manipur police and disposed off safely at around 10.55 am.
It may be mentioned that there are many poor women and children living and working in the campus of WIGC.
