With the Central Public Information Officer of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences failing to furnish information under the Right to Information Act even after the mandated period of 30 days, a fresh application has been submitted to the CPIO.
Kambam Seityajit had sought information and accordingly submitted a list of questions on May 30 this year with the CPIO, RIMS under Section 6 of the Right to Information Act of 2005 .
With no answers coming forth even after the mandated period of 30 days which fell on June 29, Seityajit has again submitted a fresh appeal on July 29 .
The information sought included the number of nurses regularised in their posts in the recent past during the period of the present Director, the courses of BSc Nursing, total number of students enrolled for the course, present position of the Dental College and OPD block for which the foundation stone was laid by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
The other information sought included the number of super specialists/post doctoral doctors working in RIMS, number of staff in the casualty ward, whether staff of the casualty ward have been absorbed in other wards of departments of
RIMS hospital.
Question was also raised on why RIMS is not running its own pharmacy, why RIMS is not dispensing free medicine and at subsidised rates to the patients at the general ward while pointing out that this is being done in hospitals under the Union Government like AIIMS, PGI Nehru Hospital, Chandigarh and Safdarjung Hospital.
Other questions raised included why patients needing MRI, CT Scan, X-Ray, Ultrasound etc are referred to private clinics though RIMS has all the facilities mentioned.
