Imphal, April 30 2013:
All Manipur Anti Drug Association (AMADA) has organised an academic awareness programme on 'prevention of drug and illicit trafficking' at Luwangsangbam Maning Leikai on Sunday.
Highlighting the urgent need to curb the menace of drug abuse in Manipur, resource person of the awareness programme Ng Tejkishor, Director of Law and Prosecution, said that failure to intervene timely to prevent youths from drug abuse would lead to upsurge of rotten generations and consequently formation of a matriarchal pattern of social system in Manipur.
While, appealing to all the civil society organisations; pressure groups; Meira Paibis and other social bodies not to take law into their own hands but report to police when they arrest any drug abuser, Tejkishor said that abuse of intoxicant largely affects the society.
So, all the sections of the society should empower the law enforcement agencies in order to curb this menace.
Domestic violence like the crimes perpetrated by mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, harassing of wife, etc is punishable under law, he pointed out.
