MLA Shyamkumar quits MPP, joins Trinamool Congress

A day after MLA RK Anand tendering his resignation from Manipur People's Party, sitting MLA of MPP from Andro Assembly Constituency Th Shyamkumar has joined Trinamool Congress today and announced his decision of contesting the ensuing general election to 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly on the ticket of Trinamool Congress.
The confirmation of Shyamkumar joining Trinamool Congress was officially announced by President of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Kim Gangte today.
Explaining the reason for his resignation from MPP, MLA Shyamkumar said that MPP has good ideology, but there is inconstancy in taking political decision.
Elucidating his point, Shyamkumar recalled that in the last MP election, Prof N Mohendro had been initially announced as the MPP candidate but later on ex-MP Thounoujam Chaoba was chosen as the candidate.
Moreover, he had been suspended from MPP on alleged charge of giving vote to Congress candidate in the last MP election.
Informing that he had submitted his resignation paper to MPP President on December 28, Shyamkumar said that he decided to join Trinamool Congress as he admires the ideology of the party and with an aim to bring a change in the present system in the state.
Welcoming Shyamkumar to the fold of Trinamool Congress and accepting his membership, President of Trinamool Congress, Manipur Pradesh Kim Gangte presented the flag of the party to Shyamkumar during a formal function held at the city office of the Development Organisation, Andro Kendra here today.
Speaking at the occasion, Kim Gangte assured that her party would put its best effort to get majority status in the ensuing election and bring a visible change in the developmental scenario of the state.
