In connection with the firing at Moreh on July 13 at the residences including the home of TSA Moreh block president Thongminlun Haokip which led to filing of Public Interest Litigation by Thadou Students' Association (TSA), leaders of CSOs in Moreh have urged TSA to withdraw the PIL immediately.
A joint press release issued by respective president of Hill tribal Council (HTC) Moreh, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Moreh, Moreh Youth Club, Kuki Women Union & Human Rights (KWU&HR) stated that the unfortunate incident did not allegedly target TSA Moreh block president but rather a misunderstanding between two rival groups.
Acting on the grim situation, the CSOs leaders intervened to bring about peace in the town, it stated and added that the two groups involved in the firing were brought to a negotiating table to resolve the matter.
It stated that a banquet was arranged and an unconditional peace accord was signed between the two groups, as per the Kuki Customary Law.
The press statement further said that if TSA persists and decides to go ahead with the case then Moreh CSOs will consider the act as an insult and disrespect to the Kuki custom.
It warned that the Moreh CSOs will not be responsible if any unwanted incidents occur between UG groups concerned in the future.
It appealed the Government as well as the Court concerned not to pay heed to the PIL of the TSA in the interest of the public.
