Training programme commences

A two-day training/interaction programme, organised by ICAR Seed Project, Directorate of Research, Central Agricultural University, Imphal on 'Quality seed production of agricultural crops and its importance' was inaugurated by Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Director of Research Dr CA Srinivasamurthy today,at Kumbi Terakhong.
Director of Research Dr CA Srinivasamurthy attended the programme as chief guest, Kishan Morcha BJP Manipur Pradesh president Kh Nabakumar Singh as president and CAU, Imphal Registrar Dr K Mamocha Singh as guest of honour.
60 trainees from Kumbi AC participated in the training, reports our correspondent.
During the technical session, Dr K Mamocha, Scientist in-charge Seed project Dr Pramesh Kh, Scientist (plant breeding) AICRP (Mullarp) Dr Samuel Jeberson and Scientist (Agronomist) AICRP (Mullarp) Dr KS Shashidhar spoke at programme as resource persons where they thoroughly elaborated on 'Insect pest management for quality seed production of rice and major crops of Manipur, 'Concept of quality seed production', 'Quality seed production of pulse crops' and 'Production technologies of pulse crops' .
Dr CA Srinivasamurthy encouraged the trainees to learn while stating that there is no age limit in gaining any knowledge.
He urged the trainees to gain maximum knowledge so that they could select the right plant seeds and grow them at the right time in order to increase the crop productivity and their income at large.
Nodal Officer, ICAR Seed Project CAu Imphal/Deputy Director of Research Dr Th Robindro Singh noted that such training programme have been organised at places outside the State and added that the training will be continued at different areas of Manipur to give maximum benefits to the farmers of the State.
