Sunil murder case:: Murderer gets 3 years jail term

The court of Sessions Judge, Manipur East on Friday sentenced Aribam Naobi Sharma, who was convicted in the Asem Sunil murder case on December 23 this year, to a three-year jail term.
Naobi Sharma, a resident of Kongpal Khunou Mayai Leikai in Imphal East, was found guilty in the murder case by the court of A Guneshwar Sharma under section 304, Part-II of IPC on December 23 last.
Along with announcement of the sentence, the court also fined him Rs 10, 000 .
The lawyer appearing for the victim demanded that Naobi be given 10 years jail term, however the defence counsel argued that the incident was not intentional in nature, seeking leniency for Naobi.
Sunil was repeated beaten up to death by Naobi after a road mishap that took place at Kongba Lairenpat on the night of June 15, 2011 when the victim who was riding home in a scooter accidentally hit Naobi's wife and slipped off the road.
Naobi then hit Sunil with a stone on the head.
Sunil was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to the injuries the same night.
