CPI protests price hike

Imphal, October 27 2020:
Communist Party of India (CPI) leaders and members staged a sit-in protest in front of Irawat Bhavan demanding dedicated COVID-19 hospital and denouncing price hike amid the pandemic today.
CPI Manipur State Council secretary Laishram Sotinkumar and other party leaders took part in the protest.
Asserting that the State Government has failed to monitor and regulate prices of commodities amid the pandemic, L Sotinkumar said a kg of onions is being sold at Rs 85 to Rs 95.Potatoes are sold at Rs 55 to rs 60 per kg.

Prices of pulses have also skyrocketed when people are facing immense hardship due to COVID-19 pandemic, he said.
Stating that the COVID-19 situation may further worsen in the State, he appealed Government to establish a dedicated COVID-19 hospital.
Veteran party leader, Dr M Nara also denounced the price hike of daily essential commodities and urged the Government to regulate the prices.
He also appealed Government to install or identify a dedicated COVID-19 hospital.
He identified lack of a dedicated COVID-19 hospital as one of the causes for infections at hospitals and the increasing number of cases in general.
