AR conducts webinar on bridging hill-valley aspirations

Under the aegis of DGAR, IGAR (South) and Manipur University (MU) jointly on Tuesday organised a webinar under the theme "Bridging the Hill-Valley Aspirations: Pre-Requisite for Peace and Stability in Manipur" .
The webinar was hosted by former vice chancellor Prof S Sanatombi Singha on behalf of Manipur University and the keynote address was delivered by former Home secretary GK Pillai.
In a release, PRO IGAR (South) informed that the webinar was participated by a number of serving senior army and civil administration officers, faculty of many university including Manipur University, army veterans and prominent personalities of media and intellectual domain.
It highlighted the requirements of bridging the aspirations of various communities in Manipur to overcome the challenges to peace and developments to the state.
DG Assam Rifles Lt Gen PC Nair delivered a talk on "Geo-Political Analysis of Manipur: Need for Settling Internal Conflict to Build Better Future Tomorrow".
The director general highlighted the role of Manipur as a Fulcrum to the India's Role in the "Asian Century" wherein the state needs to take lead by developing a robust economy and infrastructure for which it is essential to overcome the various internal differences by focussing on the opportunities and harness its soft power.
The webinar had distinguished speakers and panellist including Prof S Mangi Singh, Prof Ringkahao Horam and Prof Ch Priyoranjan Singh of Manipur University, Manipur State Commission for Women chairman Prof Binota Meinam, army veterans having extensive knowledge of the region including Lt Gen (Dr) K Himalaya Singh, Lt Gen CA Krishnan and renowned author Jaideep Saikia.
It was the second webinar post the signing of MoU between Assam Rifles and Manipur University on March 6, 2021 for establishing 'Assam Rifles Chair of Excellence' for a period of three years, under which apart from funding of research in field of conflict studies, national security, socio-economy and cultural fields also included conduct of joint seminars and Round Table discussions.
Such events are organised with an aim to conduct seminars, discussions and interactions on topic of relevance to the Northeast Region especially Manipur, providing common platforms for varied stakeholders in the region to exchange ideas, views and understand each other's perspective in their collective effort towards ushering lasting peace and stability, the bedrock for sustainable development and prosperity, informed the PRO.
While stating that the webinar was highly subscribed and well received, the PRO conveyed that the other attendees included top brass of Manipur civil administration, Assam Rifles, various think tanks, faculty and students of Manipur University, faculty of various national universities, cadets from NCC Manipur and media persons, added the PRO.
