Nonganba case: NSCN-IM leader sent to jail

NSCN-IM deputy Kilonser Moses Golmei, who was arrested in connection with the murder of Akoijam Nonganba alias Aging, has been remanded to 15 days in judicial custody by judicial magistrate first class, Kangpokpi on Monday.
After his police remand period lapsed on Monday, Moses Golmei was produced before the court where he was greeted with slogans from angry members of the JAC formed in connection with the murder of Nonganba.
The JAC members gathered at the court's premises anticipating his presence in the court.
They demanded that stringent punishment be given to him.
To prevent unwanted incidents inside the court complex, a large number of Kangpokpi police maintained vigil in the court complex as Moses was produced before judicial magistrate, who consequently remanded him to 15 days in judicial custody It may be mentioned here that one Thokchom Sonia, who has also been arrested in connection with the death of Nonganba, is presently in police custody.
As per the report submit ted by the IO, Nonganba had a heated argument with Sonia over some trifle matter at Stephen Dangmei's place.
Stephen and Moses Gonmei joined the argument in favour of Sonia.
All the four were inebriated.
From there, they drove to Moses's house in the Maruti Swift where they enjoyed a meal and left together heading towards Senapati Bazar.
They stopped in front of a SBI ATM booth near a public toilet, from where Stephen and Moses went to book a room in a nearby hotel, which is about 30 metres from the ATM Booth.
CCTV footage of SBI confirmed that Nonganba and Sonia had heated argument during which Nonganba slapped Sonia.
Stephen and Moses also assaulted Nonganba.
Moses continued to assault Nonganba even to the extent of picking up a stone to hit Nonganba, who was then seen in a submissive mode folding hands and embracing Moses.
As explained by Sonia, Moses went to the extent of extreme aggressiveness and threatened to kill him if he gets permission from Stephen.
After a series of argument and tussle, which went on for about 30 minutes, Stephen handed over the car key to Sonia, who in turned gave it to Nonganba.
Nonganba drove off and the three went to the hotel.
After about 15 minutes, Nonganba arrived at the same spot and called out Sonia over the phone.
Sonia along with Moses came out and assaulted Nonganba following intense argument.
He also threatened to kill him.
Considering the facts and circumstances corroborated by the statement of the witnesses, conclusion can be drawn through circumstantial evidences that Moses along with Stephen and his associates abducted Nonganba and put him in a vehicle, murdered him brutally and dumped the dead body of the deceased at the place where is was found on February 12, the IO report stated while seeking judicial remand of the accused Moses Gonmei.
