Koirengei bridge inaugurated

Imphal, February 24 2019:
Chief Minister N Biren today inaugurated a newly constructed bridge at Koirengei.
For construction of the bridge, Rs 10.33 crore was sanctioned under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) during 2013-14 .
The bridge inaugurated today is 56 metres long and 7.5 metres wide.
The bridge has 2 metres wide footpath on either side.
As per contract agreement, the bridge construction work should have been completed by December 2016 but it was delayed on account of bandhs and blockades.
Taking due note of the fact Imphal River almost bifurcates Heingang AC, Chief Minister N Biren who represents the Assembly segment has been working to build four bridges across the river at different places.
It is said that foundation stones for the four new bridges would be laid soon.
Works Minister Th Biswajit and Imphal East Adhyaksha P Bimola were also present at the inaugural function.
