Sea Cherry Mackerel worth Rs 17 lakhs impounded

Sea Cherry Mackeral, a brand of tin fish, worth around Rs 17 lakhs have been impounded by the Food Safety Officers, after the same, which were collected from different parts of the State were handed over by the Agent MS Y Krishna Singh and Sons) of the brand.
The particular brand of the tin fish has been banned for sale in the market by the State Government following an order passed on March 25 last.
The Agent of the brand, MS Y Krishna Singh and Sons, had collected almost all the Sea Mackeral Tin fishes from the distributors and refunded their amount before handing them over to the Food Security Officers.
After the agent informed the Food Safety Officers about the collected banned tin fish and asked them to impound the goods, a team of officers arrived and confiscated the tin fishes.
Speaking to media persons in this regard, Y Satyajit, Food Safety Officer of Imphal West, informed that the Food Safety Officers have been instructed by the State Government to check selling of the banned tin fish in the market.
During this time, the agent of Sea Mackeral Tin fish informed the Food Safety Officers that they have collected all the stocks and asked them (Food Safety Officers) to impound them.
Accordingly, Food Safety Officers went and confiscated the collected tin fishes.
He further appealed to the general public to inform the Food Safety Officers if the particular brand of tin fish is still found being sold in the market.
Y Jitendra, Proprietor of MS Y Krishna Singh and Sons, also told reporters that the banned tin fish which were found in some of the distributors were collected after the amounts were refunded to them.
He also appealed to all concerned to hand over the banned tin fish to the company through the agent and assured that the amounts will be refunded.
