13 test positive in Ukhrul, two in Kamjong

Ukhrul, July 22 2021:
After a steady drop in the positivity rate for over a week, the tally is beginning to show an upward trend as 13 more persons tested positive for the contagion in Ukhrul district on Thursday.
The sudden rise in the positive cases has been witnessed about 10 days after a single day tally of 17 recorded on July 12 last.
According to an official source from the district surveillance office, the 13 cases emerged from among 43 samples collected from eight different locations in the township, including Ukhrul district hospital and Leishiphung Christian Hospital (LCH) on Thursday.
It said that one case each was found on contact tracing from Phungreitang, Khampasom, Wino tang, 7th Finance localities and LCH, while the rest were detected from screening Centers at UDH and Town Hall.
With the latest detection, the total number of active cases has added up to 50, after six patients were discharged from the hospital on the same day, it said.
Currently, 16 patients are lodged at UDH Isolation Ward, 19 at Transit Camp, eight at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School CIC and seven at Phalee CIC.
The district's cumulative number of positive cases stands at 829, of which 21 cases have been referred out from the hospital.
Till date, the district has registered a total of 12 fatalities related to the current second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak.
In Kamjong district, two positive cases were detected out of 41 samples tested on the same day.
On Thursday, 40 RAT samples and one RT-PCR sample were tested, during which the two positive cases were found, an official source informed.
It said that the district's tally of active cases is 45 and that the cumulative number of positive cases has reached 535 .
