As celebrated throughout the country the 67th Birth Anniversary of the then Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi was also celebrated in almost all parts of the state where one and all took the Sadbhavana oath.
The state function was held here at the conference hall of Manipur Secretariat where Th Devandra, Minister for Law and Legislative Affairs, GoM was the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Th devendra said that Rajiv Gandhi was a selfless and courageous leader of the country.
He was that sort of a leader who work hard to bring political stability in the country by trying to introduce the Anti Defection Law in the country.
It was all because of his hard work that the Law has been introduced and political stability being brought in the country.
The function was also attended by Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat.
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee also celebrated the 67th birth anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India.
The observance was attended among others by President MPCC Gaikhangam, Speaker I.Hemochandra ,Commerce and Industries Minister Y.Irabot,MLA T.Mangibabu other Congress leaders and Congress Workers.
Rich floral tribute was paied to the Portraits of late Rajiv Gandhi.
Gaikhangam recalled late Rajiv Gandhi as a Great leader.
Interacting with media persons at the sideline of the function MPCC President Gaikhangam supported at the stand of the State Government over Sadar Hills issue.
Acknowledging Sadar Hills demand as a long pending issue MPCC Chief said we have to study all the aspects including the negative effects before granting the demands.
He urged the people of the state to maintain peace and eschew violent means of agitation and held out that every problem can and should be resolved through dialogue.
"The government will surely solve the issue of Sadar Hills through dialogue at the earliest," he said.
In another occasion the Sadbhavana Diwas was also celebrated at the residence of N Bihari, executive member of MPCC organized by Khurai Block Congress committee at Kongpal today.
The function was attended by Bidyapati Senjam, General Secretary, MPCC, Lalmani, President,District Congress committee Sawombung, N jayentakumar, General Secretary, City District Congress Committee and other Congress workers.
Floral tributes were paid to the photo of Late Rajiv Gandhi as a mark of respect to his departed soul.
A two minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul of Late MLA E Suraj who was killed in a car accident in Delhi.
The 67th Birth Anniversary of Late Rajiv Gandhi was also celebrated at the community hall, Wangoi Bazaar organized by Wangoi Block Congress Committee.
The function was graced by Gaikhangam, President, MPCC and Sagolshem Achouba, VP, MPCC and Thambaljao Phaomei, Vice Chairperson, IMC as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of honour respectively.
As a part of the celebration newly joined INC members who have recently retired from various departments of the state were also felicitated.
Later disinfected mosquito nets were also distributed to the households of Leishangkhong Kabui Khul and Wangoi Kabui Khul bu Gaikhangam and S Achouba.
