Imphal, July 20 2015 :
State BJP President Th Chaoba on Monday stated that the Government should introduce an ILP Bill acceptable to all at the earliest possible time and treat the matter as urgent.
The Manipur Pradesh BJP leader addressed the media at the party office and reiterated that BJP is also preparing a draft Bill.
"It's imperative that the Manipur Government pass an ILP bill to protect the interest of the indigenous people of the State," Chaoba demanded.
He said holding meetings on the issue by the All-Political Party is a futile attempt and suggested that legal experts should be consulted instead towards that end.
Chaoba claimed that ILP bill could be made by incorporating certain texts from the State List.
The former MP urged that looking into the issue of Land use Policy will also be a good step on the part of the Government.
Sapam Robinhood died on July 8 and that his body now lying unclaimed at the JNIMS mortuary might have decomposed, he said and condemned the Government for doing nothing to allow the family to perform the last rites till now.
The Government also needs to look into the matter on mentioning the name of Sapam Robinhood in an FIR filed by the police following the July 8 incident which claimed his life.
Naming Sapam Robinhood as an accused is an erroneous course of action of the police, Chaoba said.
