Kangpokpi gears up COVID-19 preventive measures

Kangpokpi, March 20 2020:
Amidst the global outbreak of novel coronavirus disease or COVID-19, Kangpokpi District initiated several preventive measures to check the spread of the disease in the State.
As directed, all educational institutions in the district have been shut down.
District Administration in collaboration with the District Health Society, local civil bodies also disseminated important preventive information for the disease to the general public.
DC Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai Kalidas today issued a public notice as directed by the Government to reduce mass gathering in the district to prevent the spread of COVID-19 .
It also informed that gathering of over 100 persons shall be held with only prior approval of DC Kangpokpi in all areas of the district.
The public notice also informed that all public meetings, conferences, workshops, conventions shall be avoided in view of the threat of COVID-19 .
The District Administration is also likely to issue shutting down of main market places in the districts as directed by the Government to avoid the outbreak of COVID-19 for five days.
The District Administration further informed the general public who have decided to participate for the Baruni worship to refrain themselves from the function as instructed by the Nongmaiching Lainingthou Baruni Sena Committee.
Worshipping at Baruni Hill was scheduled to begin from midnight of March 21 till March 22 .
However, in view of the prevailing situation of COVID-19, the Nongmaiching Lainingthou Baruni Sena Committee have decided to suspend the proposed worshipping function.
Zonal Education Officer, Kangpokpi apart from shutting down all educational institutions including Government and privately run institutions, also issued an order yesterday to close down all coaching centres, private tuitions centres and boarding hostels operated in Kangpokpi District till March 31 .
Meanwhile, Kangpokpi Town Committee issued a public notice today as part of the preventive measures taken up within the town to avoid the spread of COVID-19 .
It said that any residents of the town or person(s) coming from other States should also report to the concerned Ward Chairman.
Pharmacies within the town shall ensure an adequate supply of masks and hand sanitizers, it further informed.
The Kangpokpi Town Committee also instructed all hotel owners in the town to maintain cleanliness and keep water and soap in the front of the hotel for washing hands.
