District level election quiz conducted

Kangpokpi, December 18 2017:
The District level election quiz contest for students from class IX to XII was conducted at the multipurpose hall of DC complex, Kangpokpi, today .
The election quiz contest was conducted as a part of the National election quiz, an All India Inter-School Quiz for students (class IX to XII), who are the future electors .
The contest was organised by district administration, Kangpokpi, as a run up to the 8th National Voter's Day which will be observed on January 25 .
Altogether 10 teams from different schools located in Kangpokpi district took part in the contest .
V M Nazareth English High School, Gangpijang, Saikul bagged 1st prize while Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Gamnon, Sapormeina clinched the 2nd spot.
The 3rd position was secured by Elite Higher Secondary School, Kangpokpi .
The winning teams of the contest were presented with cash prizes by ADC, Kangpokpi, H Balkrishna Singh and Election Officer, Kangpokpi, Chungsat Khongsai .
Designed and developed as a part of the Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, National Election Quiz (NEQ) has geared up to include contents of varying topics ranging from the most functional aspects of electoral processes to topics namely ‘History of democracy and elections’, ‘Types of elections’, ‘Elections across the world’, ‘Election management bodies’, ‘Different electoral systems’, ‘Voter education’.An extension of ECI's Interactive School Engagement (ISE) programme covered nearly 30,000 schools and more than 55 lakh students over its two phases in January and July 2017, the NEQ began on 1st November with the Intra-school rounds, followed by District round which is being organised by the District Election Officers .
With the State rounds currently in progress, the 6 National semi-finals, stated to be held in New Delhi, around the middle of January, 2018 would feature 36 school teams, of 2 participants each, from every State and Union Territory of the country .
The finals of the inaugural edition of NEQ would witness 6 qualifying teams battle for the contest title.
The winning team would be awarded on the January 25, as part of the 8th National Voter's Day celebration.
