12 AR men hurt in IED blast in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, November 18 2014:
At least 12 jawans of 13 Assam Rifles reportedly wounded when three powerful IEDs exploded along National Highway 37 which is just 5 km from Nungba police station, Tamenglong district around 12: 30 pm today.
Out of the injured, 8 jawans are seriously hurt and they have been airlifted from Nungba AR post to Leimakhong Military Hospital near Imphal.
The injured jawans from the 13 Assam Rifles include Subedar MS Negi, Riflemen Amandip Singh, Rameshmeiyo, PG Balgem, Babu Masare, and SHyamlal.
According to the police, suspected combined team of ZUF and NSCN-K had planted the IED and after the blast, they also fired several rounds.
The incident occurred at 5 km from Nungba headquarter toward Jiribam when 13 Assam Rifles was travelling on NH- 37 on it.
First planted IED was blasted when escort Gypsy passed on it.
On seeing the gypsy being blown out, 407 vehicle sped up to cross the site but suddenly another IED blasted and blew out, police said.
The sources said the IEDs exploded one after the other when the convoy a place.
The injured jawans were brought to CHC Nungba and first aids given.
The seriously injured were evacuated to Laimakhong hospital through chopper.
However, they were said to be out of danger.
Meanwhile, an IED blast occurred along the Minuthong to Pandon area under Imphal police station around 5 am today.
However, the blast happened at a pit near the transit camp of Assam Rifles did not hurt anyone.
