All Manipur Muslims (Meitei-Pangals) Welfare Association (AMMPWA) organized a day-long State Level Awareness Programme on Education, Health and Legal Literacy at Sora Community Hall today.
The Programme was organized by AMMPWA in collaboration with National Tobacco Control Programme, National Adult Literacy Programme and National Legal Literacy Programme.
Manipur State Minorities Commission Chairperson A Halim Chowdhury, IAS (retd.), Former Principal Secretary of Labour & Employment Janab A R Khan, IAS (retd), Former Principal of G P Women's College Prof.Laljan Begum and Former Addl Director of University & Hr Education Prof Janab Khan attended the function as Chief Guest, Guests of Honour and President respectively.
AMMPWA General Secretary Md.Akhtar Hussain, in his key note address, highlighted the importance of holding awareness programmes at various minority concentrated areas in Manipur.
Director of Prosecution Ng Tejkumar Singh narrated incidents in which women are being tortured as a consequence of drug abuse as resource person speaking on Drug Abuse and Domestic Violence in Muslim Society.
State Nodal Officer of Tobacco Control Programme Dr K.Kamolini Devi highlighted the impact of using items of tobacco products on the society and dreadful diseases caused by using Tobacco items.
A national pledge on avoiding use of tobacco products was also conducted to the young students who gathered in the occasion.
Deputy Secretary of Education M A Salam highlighted the importance of Adult Literacy under the Sakshar Bharat Mission launched by the Government of India.
He also highlighted the points to be noted down by the parents under various sections of Right to Education Act -2009 .
MOBEDS Project Director M S Khan highlighted the Welfare Schemes of MOBC and urged the students to apply for various scholarship schemes which are being implemented by the MOBC Department.
D M College Associate Professor Dr Md Raheijuddin Sheikh moderated the sessions and conducted a theme based Quiz Competition for the school students.
Special gift hampers were distributed to the winners of the Quiz Competition.
A short Documentary Film entitled "Ngashidamak Khangli Achumba Waa" was also screened in connection with the Programme.
