Dr IS Yumnam's 'Ollangthagi Leipaklei' released

Imphal, June 15 2014:
"Ollangthagi Leipaklei", a Manipuri novel authored by Dr IS Yumnam was formally released by noted lyricist B Jayantakumar Sharma during a function at the literary hall of Hueiyen Lanpao at Sega Road, Thouda Bhabok Leikai here today.
Besides, B Jayantakumar Sharma, who attended as chief guest, writer Sharatchandra Nongthomba presided over the book releasing function organized by Writers' Club, Nambol.
BS Maisnam reviewed the book, while a host of columnists of Hueiyen Lanpao and other writers attended the function.
"I've great interest in the field of writing and reading novels is one of the important parts of my life", Dr IS Yumnam said while addressing the function.
He said he has written five books of poetry, including one in English and two books of criticism, adding that 'Olangthagi Leipaklei' is his first novel.
While giving the reason for his choosing the flower 'Leipaklei' in his novel as a symbol of resilient character of a Meitei woman, Dr IS Yumnam said that as Leipaklei is much-admired by men of literature of the State in many books, he too is very fond of this of flower.
Among others who spoke on the occasion, Lyricist Jayantakumar noted that there are many writers of poetry and short stories in Manipuri literature, but there are fewer novelists in the State.
"It is a great pleasure for every one of us that the novel 'Ollangthagi Leipaklei' has been added to the Manipuri literature," Jayantakumar said.
