Small business as means of livelihood

Ningonla Shimrah, an aged women who earns her livelihood by selling vegetables in an open road side expressed how she struggled to charm and involve other women in the business, in order to provide a way of income for them .
Speaking at celebration of the 7th Raising day of Zaoranao Sinshim (Ukhrul women Vendors Union) held at town hall, Phungreitang Ukhrul, she said that she began her business of selling vegetables in an open space on the roadside since 1988 and is still continuing the business to earn continue livelihood .
Expressing content, she stated more than 200 women were enrolled in the Women Vendor Union while adding that the local business was gaining momentum .
"We should continue to strive and promote those women, who are unemployed, to take part in business", she asserted .
She stated that the business was not only meant for profit but also a service to the public and added that the satisfaction of the customers should be counted .
Social worker, Ngachonmi Ramshang who attended as the chief guest of the occasion, acknowledged the pain and suffering of the women while trading in an open area .
He said that the ongoing construction of women market complex would encourage women to involve more and gain profit from the trade and commerce .
Meanwhile, Tangkhul Leishak Long (Trade council), Ukhrul president Thotshang Shaiza stressed on the need of promoting indigenous and organic food so as to attract more customers.
