Minister L Jayantakumar calls for ideal mothers for ideal Nation

Imphal, December 13 2017:
To establish a welfare society, first we need the mothers of the nation to be ideal � and an ideal mother will nurture a child to have a bright future and we also need to care for the mothers for a healthy nation, Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar said today .
Minister L Jayantakumar was addressing as the chief guest on the occasion of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matriva Abhiyan (PMSMA) Award Ceremony, 2017, which is organised by the State Health Society, National Health Mission, Manipur at the JNIMS Auditorium, Porompat .
He further asserted that the Government has launched many welfare schemes for the women and children .
Officers and staff of the Government departments should be sincere while implementing such schemes so that it reaches the deserving beneficiaries like poor and needy people, he added .
He also spoke for the judicious use of sanctioned fund by the Government for making the schemes fruitful .
Regarding the PMSMA Scheme, the Health and Family Welfare Minister said that merely giving medical attention with free medical service to pregnant women will not serve the purpose of the scheme if we fail to educate the women .
We also need to develop the mothers intellectually and spiritually, he added .
Delivering the presidential speech, Director, Health Services, Government of Manipur, Dr K Rajo said that the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matriva Abhiyan which was launched on July 9, 2017 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will benefit the women of the country, particularly the pregnant women.
In the state, the scheme was launched on August 8, 2016 .
As part of the function, awards were also distributed to doctors and health volunteers including nurses in recognition of their services in helping and giving free treatment to pregnant women in the state.

Deputy commissioners, medical experts, doctors, health services workers, and staff and volunteers from the NHM also attended the function.
