Imphal, September 13 2015:
National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO), which has been playing a major role in safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur, observed its 15th foundation day on Sunday at the conference hall of IMA at Keishampat.
Speaking on the occasion, former president of United Committee Manipur (UCM), Y Nabachandra said that everyone in Manipur should welcome the three Bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31 last.
The protests against the three Bills might have been instigated by a few sections to disintegrate Manipur, which is unfortunate, said Nabachandra.
It's a shame that three MLAs from the hills had resigned to oppose the Bills, he said.
On the Naga peace accord signed on August 3 last, Nabachandra said that people of the State will fight together against any force that tries to break up Manipur's integrity.
Vice president of Zeliangrong Union Manipur, Nagaland and Assam, R Chandra Haomei said that all the people living in the hills and valleys of Manipur are after all Manipuris.
The unrest situation in the State has been created as there are many self-styled leaders, alleged Assam R Chandra Haomei.
He added that those who live in Manipur need to think for the betterment of the State.
NIPCO president M Medun Maring, former UCM president Langamba, Kuki Women Union Manipur representative Rose Mangsi Haokip, UCM vice president Sunil Karam and NIPCO advisor L Khuplar Kom attended the function as presidium.
It was also participated by several leaders of various organizations.
