Workshop begins

A 5-day workshop on techniques of paper setting and evaluation conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur in collaboration with NCERT was set into motion by L Mahendra Singh, Chairman, COHSEM today at the Central Hall, GP Women’s College .
According to a statement, Dr M Bidyasagar, Secretary, COHSEM, Prof AD Tiwari, Head of Planning and Monitoring Division, NCERT, New Delhi and Dr B Lalhari Sharma, Principal, GP Women’s College were the presidium members .
Five resource persons from NCERT and 72 local resource persons took part in the workshop.
The workshop is held for the fourth time after it were held in 1995, 2003 and 2016 .
In the first academic session today, Prof AD Tiwari delivered a lecture on National Curriculum Framework such as the introduction of typology of questions which call for reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving abilities rather than memorisation of facts .
He also laid special emphasis on the quality of questions used in the evaluation of students because it is these questions which lead to the improvement in the thinking ability of the student.
This will definitely enhance the quality of education .
The valedictory function of the workshop will be held at 3 pm on Sept 16 .
