Imphal, April 12 2019:
Kabaw Valley Memorial Charitable Trust and Kangla Religious and Development Society have joined forces in their struggle to secure the land of Manipur which was lost in the Rangoon Agreement and have announced that they are planning to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) before the High Court of Manipur regarding the matter.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Kabaw Valley Memorial Charitable Trust at Keishampat Junction today, former Health Director Dr Th Suresh said that the Trust has been working from time to time to get back Manipur's land from Myanmar and for that they have been sending legal notice to the Ministry of External Affairs, Home Department and Assam Rifles.
He then claimed that the present border of India and Myanmar in Manipur is a temporary boundary and the permanent boundary of Manipur covers Kabaw Valley.
He then added that regarding their legal notice, they got a reply that the border boundary has been placed as per the Rangoon Agreement of 1967, and alleged that the said agreement is a legally and Constitutionally wrong agreement.
A PIL to get back Manipur's lost land will be filed before the High Court of Manipur at the earliest, he added.
