Meeting discusses devolution

Autonomous District Council (ADC) is to protect the lands and rights of the hills people.
However, the present councillors have not been given any power to protect and develop their areas.
Moreover, the State Government has "suppressed" the rights of the hill people, said Awangbou Newmai, former MLA 52- Tamei ST/ AC and President of Naga People's Front (NPF) Manipur State Unit.
He was speaking at the one-day Naga People's Front (NPF) mass political awareness campaign at Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
During the campaign meeting, Awangbou said NPF is the only party that can fight for the rights of the people.
He appealed all intending candidates to fight for the rights of the people.
He also announced that the party will declare the list if NPF candidates for ADC soon.
Samuel Risom, MLA Ukhrul also attended the programme and urged the people of Tamenglong top choose the right person, right party.
Ashang Pame, President of Tamenglong Division said that as many 15 candidates have been seeking NPF tickets.
The party will declare the list on May 1 after meeting of central executive meeting of the party, he added.
