New Delhi, October 11 2015:
Moderate to heavy rains have lashed Northeast region in the past few days, while in East India good rains were only confined to coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.
However, rains are now set to reduce significantly over the region, both in terms of intensity and spread.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, these rains were on account of a well-marked low pressure area in Bay of Bengal, which travelled up to Northeastern region skirting Odisha and West Bengal coast.
It is presently marked over Myanmar region and adjoining areas of Tripura and Mizoram.
The weather system will be now clearing away from the region and will gradually fade away.
But, it will continue to give scattered light rain over entire Northeastern states that include Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for next one or two days.
Similarly, coastal parts of Odisha and West Bengal will also receive isolated showers.
