Imphal, January 11 2013:
The stand of the Centre and the Congress led Ibobi government in connection with the proposal of bringing a solution to the ongoing peace talk between Government of India and NSCN-IM should be disclosed to the general public, Tapir Gao, National General Secretary of BJP, has demanded.
Addressing media persons at the Nityapat Chuthek office of the State unit BJP here today before winding up his two-day visit to the State, Tapir Gao stated that a solution to protracted present peace talk between the India government and the NSCN-IM should be brought about at the earliest.
The peace talk is creating problems and confusion among the people of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
So, the CM of the three Congress ruled States should also clarify their respective stand on the issue so as to clear confusion from the mind of the people.
On the law and order situation in Manipur, Tapir Gao asserted that the situation in the State has never improved.
The Chandel molestation case in which a senior functionary of NSCN (IM) named Livingstone committed the crime on a young woman in full public view as well as in the presence of State and Central forces is yet to be solved.
Public protest over the incident has also led to the death of journalist Dwijamani while on duty in police firing.
BJP shares the sorrow of the bereaved family members and also condemned the whole incident.
Tapir Gao went on to assert that the abduction of a businessman from inside the fortified Kangla for ransom and his subsequent killing by the abductors, who are none other than security personnel, was all because of the loopholes in the administration of the State.
The involvement of two IRB personnel in the incident clearly shows that the recruitment process of security forces in the State was done in an unlawful manner thereby indicating strong signs of corruption.
The BJP leader pointed out that an enquiry commission headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Santosh Hegde has been instituted following a ruling of the Supreme Court.
The Commission is to probe into various fake encounters in the State during the last 10 years of Ibobi's rule where more than 2000 innocent people have been killed.
Moreover, besides the demand for repealing Armed Forces Special Powers Act and re-introduction of Inner Line Permit system, the Loktak scandal involving crores of rupee in which Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh is one of the culprits has become a hot issue in Manipur for quite some time now, he alleged.
BJP, Manipur Pradesh President Th Chaoba was also present during the press conference.
