National Legal Services Day observed

Observation of "National Legal Services Day cum Online Interactive Session" was held today at the office of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), ADR Centre, Lamphelpat.
The online interactive session was chaired by Gaiphulshillu Golmei, member secretary, MASLSA; Sorokhaibam Sadananda, deputy member Secretary, MASLSA and Ch Momon Singh, Advocate and member MASLSA.
The prize winners for the online essay competition on the theme "My Idea of Justice" were also part of the interactive session which was broadcasted live on the official Facebook page of MASLSA, said MASLSA in a statement.
Gaiphulshillu Golmei welcomed all the participants and congratulated the winners for their efforts in sharing their ideas for the said online competition, it said.
The interactive session was moderated by Sorokhaibam Sadananda and the participants discussed their perspectives on their idea of justice and the recurring themes reproduced in their respective essays, it said.
In continuation, Ch Momon Singh gave a short address on the importance of 'Legal Services Day', it said.
Momon during the interaction session, stated that National Legal Services Day is observed on November 9 every year across India to commemorate the enactment of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 .
He further highlighted that the observance is to spread awareness of the availability of free legal services for the marginalized section of the society.
He also gave a brief description of the hierarchy of legal services institutions in the country which are mandated to ensure justice is accessible to all, it continued.
