The JAC formed in connection with the brutal murder of Naorem (O) Thokchom (N) Rekha Devi, mother of renowned fashion designer Robert Naorem, has announced that a silent protest will be held at Singjamei Keithel as well as Emo Filling station, Singjamei Thokchom Leikai from 10 am to 3 pm.
Speaking to media persons at Singjamei Thokchom Leikai today, the convenor of the JC, N Tiken appealed to all the shops and business establishments in the said area to remain closed during the said period and to take part in the protest as well.
He narrated that Rekha was found brutally murdered at her own residence on May 29 and her husband, Naorem Dijamani was picked by police as the prime suspect and the investigation is still underway.
Informing that the Court had remanded Dijamani to judicial custody till tomorrow (from June 10), Tiken said that the JAC decided to organise the silent protest during the Court working hours, from 10 am to 3 pm, as Dijamani will be produced before the Court tomorrow.
He stated that the JAC will raise demand for determining the DNA profile of Dijamani for the investigation and appealed to the authorities concerned to solve the case at the earliest and deliver justice for the victim and the bereaved family.
