The All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has said that the proposed rally on the 'demand for a native Chief Secretary' has been postponed to April 17 .
Earlier it was scheduled for April 10 .
It is worth mentioning here that various student organizations had staged a sit-in protest on April 7 demanding that a "deserving senior most local IAS officer" should be appointed as Chief Secretary of Manipur.
ATSUM demands declaration of forest officer exam results: ATSUM alleged today that the "examination for the recruitment of 28 Range Forest Officers conducted by the Forest and Environment Department, Government of Manipur vide its notification dated 20th May 2017 is kept in the dark without declaring the results till today".
According to the apex tribal students' body, the recruitment was the first such departmental recruitment conducted by the incumbent BJP led State Government.
"The written test was held on June 4, 2017 .
Subsequently, walking test for 145 written selected candidates was held on June 20, 2017 and viva-voice for the same was held on June 23 and 24, 2017 at Forest Head Office, Sajenthong in Imphal," stated ATSUM.
According to ATSUM, the "High Court of Manipur in its order dated 28th February 28, 2018 had directed" the department concerned to declare the result as expeditiously as possible.
However, the department has failed to declare the results till today for reasons best known to them, the tribal students' body alleged.
"As such, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) draws the attention of the Forest and Environment Minister to declare the said exam result at the earliest considering the interest of the candidates in particular and the public in general", it stated.
