Webinar on 'Women in leadership' organised

Press Information Bureau (PIB), Imphal, and Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India jointly organized a webinar on the occasion of 'International Women's Day, 2021' on the theme 'Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 World today'.
SN Pradhan, additional DG (NEZ), Guwahati and ADG (R), Imphal, PIB & ROB, in his welcome address shared his observation on the status of women in the state as compared to the other states.
He appreciated the women of the region for their role in shaping the Manipuri society.
He said that women empowerment is a catalyst and accelerator in nation building.
Speaking in the webinar as a resource person Dr Meinam Binota, chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women spoke on the topic Women in Leadership for a better future of the human society.
She strongly emphasised the need for equal opportunity for both genders for a better society and how it will help to build a better society for all.
Nongthombam Bunty Devi, lecturer in English, Naorem Birahari College, Khundrakpam, also talked on 'Role of Women in Nation Building'.
As a resource person, she put forth many examples of women in building the nation especially the role of mother.
She also talked about the change in the attitude of modern men but there is a lot more to change.
This slow and steady change is very assuring and will surely help in social, economic, cultural and other spheres.
The webinar was participated by 50 people including media persons.
Bishnupur Battalion of Indian Army under the aegis of Red Shield Division also celebrated 'International Women Day' with Chiru Women Association at Bishnupur.
In another instance, Loktak Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of Churachandpur sector organised a motivational lecture on 'Join Indian Army/Assam Rifles' for the women, students and youths of Bishnupur district today to mark the occasion of International Women Day.
The lecture programme which was participated by 35 young women was held at Ningthoukhong MG College where the participating girls were made aware with respect to job opportunities and various entries to join the Indian Army/Assam Rifles.
Similar celebrations were also organised by Mantripukhri Battalion, Chandel Battalion and Somsai Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) and 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 sector IGAR (East) at various locations.
