Many call for peace

In light of the recent outbreak of violence, calls to restore peace in Manipur continues to pour in with Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation Manipur, Manipur University Teachers' Association (MUTA) and Manipur University Staff Association (MUSA) joining the chorus.
In a statement ZU (AMN) urged the State and Central Government to provide protection and security to the innocent public.
ZU (AMN) also appealed to every ethnic community to maintain peace and harmony and refrain from any kind of violence to de-escalate the situation.
As such, the ZU (AMN) called upon all civil organizations in both hill and valley areas to come together and work out a solution.
Separately, KYO-M made an earnest appeal to establish a special mechanism for the safety, protection and security of vulnerable minority ethnic communities.
Further, KYO-M requested the Government to promote security, protection of properties and maintain a fair law and order situation in the State.
KYO(M) also urged all sections of communities and organisations such as CSOs, CBOs, religious institutions, youth and student organisations, individuals etc to call for peace and coexistence at this time of turmoil and refrain from all kinds of violence activities and hatred.
Further, KYO-M appealed to everyone to stop spreading rumours and stop believing in rumours as well.
Lastly, a joint statement issued by MUTA and MUSA expressed distress over the situation in Manipur and appealed to all stakeholders concerned and communities of Manipur to make all possible efforts to restore peace and harmony in the State.
