Imphal, August 06 2009:
The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) today thanked the people of Manipur for having boldly stood up against what the outfit called "terrorist" Manipur police commandos, and also castigated the Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi and the rest of the members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly for callously supporting the Chief Minister in giving permission to the police commandos to continue their killing spree.
A press release issued by GM Changjou, Chief of Department of Publicity, RPF thanked the people, clubs, organisations, etc.
for defying the curfew and fighting with the rubber bullets, tear gas shells, etc.
of the police commandos using catapults and stones.
The party also shared the grief and pain of those who sustained injuries in the agitation.
GM Changjou blamed the Chief Minister for giving a free hand to the police commandos to kill innocent people.
Despite people's heart rendering cries against the killings of innocent people by the police commandos, CM Ibobi has never said a single word to the commandos not to kill, the press release stated.
It further stated that the CM is trying to gag the media and quell the people's movement by suspending just six police commandos from service and blaming the media as having wrongly quoted what he had said on the floor of the Assembly that there is no other alternative than killing.
It is not possible for the media and the people to remain quiet of the CM's statement, the RPF said.
Strongly criticising the opposition MLAs for supporting the CM's statement on the floor of the House, the RPF said that the top-most moral obligation of the opposition MLAs now must be to pull down Ibobi from the post of CM.
In the meantime, the people have to teach the puppet government headed by CM Ibobi and a handful of police commandos a lesson that the people reject what they are doing, the RPF said.
