Orchids Day celebrated

The State Orchidarium, under Wildlife Division at Khonghampat celebrated "Orchids Day" yesterday, in connection with the 63rd Wildlife Week Celebration along with students from different schools.
A press release issued by Divisional Forest Officer, Wildlife stated that the Manipur Forest Department is celebrating the Wildlife week from October 2 to 8, as part of its week long Nationwide celebration, to raise awareness on protection and conservation of the rich, endemic and endangered wild life including flora and fauna.
The theme of the year is "Celebrate Rights of Wildlife", emphasizing that world flora and fauna have the right to flourish in their own habitat.
It stated that the State Orchidarium has organised a trekking event exclusively for students and a nature trail inside the orchidarium and an introduction to the orchids, endemic plants, birds found in the area, for free of cost.
The activities were organised to develop a fondness and importance of Wildlife among the young minds, it said.
