Leimarol Khorjeikol (Leikol) celebrates 18th foundation day

Thiyam Krishnachandra Radehesakhi Award and Kshetrimayum Yaima & Thambal Devi Memorial Literary Award for the year 2018 were conferred to Yumnam Rajendra and Lanchenba Meitei respectively for their outstanding contribution to literature and its development in Manipur.
Renowned writer, educationist and social activist Dr Chongtham Jamini Devi bagged the first Khaidem Pramodini Memorial Literary Award as a mark of recognition for her dedicated and conscious' efforts towards serving society and humanity.
The award presentation was held in an auspicious ceremony held at Manipur Dramatic Union, Yaiskul today on the occasion of observation of the 18th birth anniversary of Leimarol Khorjeikhol (Leikol), a literary organization of writers in Manipur.
The award carries a citation, cash of Rs 10, 000, shawl and memento.
"The contribution and works of the writers of the State for the growth of the society is unlimited and their values increases with time," said Minister CAF & PD Karam Shyam speaking as chief guest.
President, Leikol, Prof Nahakpam Aruna and convenor, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Academy, Nongmaithem Kirankumar also attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.
Karam Shyam urged the writers to play significant roles in shaping the society and guide the youths.
He also appealed the female population of the State to take active parts in politics and governance and contribute their thoughts and innovative ideas in the administration of the State and its affairs.
