Imphal, October 03 2012:
Stating that the recent spate of attacks on Indian security forces in the state which claimed many lives and injured many others have scared the wit out of security forces, United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has forewarned that the security forces would be coming up with a trail of fake encounters.
In a statement signed by its Senior Publicity Secretary, Ksh Yoiheiba, UNLF observed that the number of fake encounter after innocent people were forcibly taken either from their home while sleeping or on their way to their workplace has increased significantly after the recent bomb attacks carried out by the revolutionary organisations.
Moreover, government of Ibobi has discussed with heads of the security forces to bring in 100 companies of Indian security forces in the state to oppress innocent civilians in the name of fighting the revolutionary organizations.
So, public should be aware that more fake encounters would happen in the state.
Even though India boasts of being a democratic country, Manipur is under the martial law of the Indian Army.
All the extra judicial killings and oppression of innocent civilians by security forces are being carried out right under the nose of the Legislature and Judiciaries of the Indian Constitution with their approval.
It is a well known fact that Justice Jeevan Reddy Commission's report had recommended repeal of AFSPA but it was rejected by the Indian Judiciary system simply because the Army does not want it to be repealed from Manipur, UNLF contended.
The statement further alleged that issue of notice to the state and central government by the Supreme Court following a petition on fake encounters is nothing but a mere drama.
If the Supreme Court had been serious about fake encounters in Manipur, then it would have taken up many stringent actions over cases of killing innocent peoples at RIMS, Malom, Heirangoithong and June 23 incident.
The statement urged the people to bring out their hidden courage in fight against enemies of the society and Manipur.
It also urged the people to have the guts to live free for a moment instead of living for hundred years as a slave.
After living more than 60 years under the colonial rule of the India, people of Manipur should no more be tolerant of the oppression and lost their mind to the so called MCA programmes of the security forces.
The statement ridiculed that the monetary help provided by AR to the victims' families of Kwatha blast is like crocodile's tears.
While shedding their crocodile's tears, they are planning to use the innocent civilians as human shield.
