Stake holders congratulated for getting first place in NITI Aayog SEQI

Reminding all that Manipur has been ranked first among 8 small States in the in the overall performance (2016-17) report of National Institute for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog School Education Quality Index (SEQI), 2019, Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam said Manipur garnered 68.76 points as against 24.64 points collected by Arunachal Pradesh.
The 8 small States include all the North East States along with Goa.
In the larger States group, Kerala ranks first with a total evaluation point of 82.2 % and Tamil Nadu was placed in the 2nd rank with 73.4% points.
Speaking at a press meet held at the conference hall of Directorate of Education (S), Lamphelpat, Radheshyam congratulated all stake holders, student organisations, parents, teachers and students who have been working directly or indirectly for the betterment of education sector.
The Central Government under the MHRD has granted more than Rs 400 crore.
The financial assistance will facilitate development of infrastructure like laboratories, additional classrooms, and computer aided classrooms in the State.
National Institute for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog and the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) of the MHRD have been jointly developing frameworks for assessing the performance of school education in all the States & UTs through indices known as the School Education Quality Index (SEQI) and Performance Grading Index (PGI).
The primary aim is to identify the areas of deficiency in each State's school education system so that targeted interventions can be made at every level from pedagogy to teacher training.
The press conference was also attended by Education (S) Commissioner T Ranjit Singh, Education (S) Director Th Kirankumar Singh, Education (S) Additional Director (Hills) Lerte Hmangte Kom, Education (S) Additional Director (Valley) Ch Sachi Devi and other officials concerned of the department.
