Congress ticket for State sitting MPs quite certain

With the decision of All India Congress Committee (AICC) to field sitting MPs, who are below 70 years and not involved in criminal cases, in the coming Lok Sabha Election, it is clear that the two sitting MPs of the State namely Dr T Meinya of Inner Manipur and Thangso Baite of Outer Manipur are quite certain for the Congress ticket.
According to sources from Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), eight aspiring candidates of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and four others of Inner Manipur Parliamentary have applied for the Congress ticket to contest in the coming Lok Sabha Election.
The eight aspirants of Outer Manipur are sitting MP Thangso Baite, ex-Minister DD Thaiso, ex-MLA Janghemlun Panmei, JL Sumi, Chairman of Churachandpur ADC Hangkhanpao Guite, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing's daughter Bunggailun Tonsing alias Lulun, Ngachumi and Wilunpou.
On the other hand, sitting MP Dr T Meinya, K Saratchandra from Thoubal, L Tilotama from Langthabal and M Bishwarjit from Moirang have applied for Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
The list of the aspiring candidates was forwarded to AICC by the Ticket Committee of MPCC chaired by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi on October 21.The decision of AICC to give party's ticket to those sitting MPs with "clean image" has also been communicated to the functionaries of MPCC, the sources said.
It is quite certain for the two MPs of the State for the Congress ticket in the coming Lok Sabha Election as they do not have any criminal case registered against them.
Moreover, they are also not very old, the sources added.
