MPCC president writes to CM

Amidst novel coronavirus scare, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president M Okendra has written to Chief Minister N Biren Singh appreciating the initiatives being taken up by the State to face the pandemic.
Supporting the Government measures to contain the virus, M Okendra urged the State to set up a web portal dedicated to issues relating to COVID-19.Besides giving ease of access to the public, the web portal shall have all information with regards to the disease and facilities available like hospitals, PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), ventilators, ICUs, isolation, quarantine facilities, relevant Government orders and relief details.
He also suggested mobilization of the ASHA workers who can reach every corner of the State in the fight against the virus.
They should be provided with appropriate safety gears and required training, he said.
Commenting on distribution of relief packages and distribution of essential commodities like rice, he said, for better transparency and accountability, the distribution may be done through elected local bodies/representatives - Councillors, Members of district council, Zilla Parishads, Pradhans, Ward Members and Anganwadi workers/helpers etc.
He also urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to improve and effectively implement the service protocol of the frontline workers - healthcare workers, police etc.
The healthcare workers should be provided with necessary gears so that they can go home properly sanitised to the safety of their family and friends, he said.
