CCpur, September 28 2020:
The body of Arambam Ranjan, the gunman of a private cash management company WSG who was reportedly killed in the Rs 1.15 crore heist on September 4 was cremated today after the JAC formed in connection with his death claimed his body from the hospital mortuary.
Ranjan's body was left unclaimed for the past three weeks at the mortuary as the JAC maintained that it will not be claimed unless the killers are identified and booked.
With the district police releasing at least two separate statements on the case and indicting Ranjan's own colleagues both for the killing and the heist, the JAC is believed to have been inclined on conducting his last rites.
A statement of the JAC issued today said the N Biren led Government has taken up the case sincerely and fulfilled their demands.
The State police, from the DGP to the Investigation Officers and all the personnel involved have shown honesty and dedication towards their duty, it said.
The JAC also made mention of the support it got from CSOs and the role of print and electronic media to bring justice and peace in the district.
Ranjan was reportedly shot twice in broad daylight on his abdomen in front of the SBI Churachandpur branch on September 4 .
He along with his friends from WSG were preparing to refill the SBI ATMs located within the town when the incident occurred.
Cash to the tune of Rs 1.15 crore is reported to have been stolen by the assailants.
Though the police have not given graphic details on the incident, it claimed that three of the WSG employees they have taken into their custody as suspects are the ones who actually planned and committed the crime.
