LS Polls:: CM rushes to Delhi to decide on tickets

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today left Imphal for Delhi to meet AICC leaders to decide on who should be given the party ticket to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In all 12 aspiring candidates have submitted their applications for the party ticket to contest in the 16th Lok Sabha election, which is expected to be held sometime in April next year, both for the Inner and the Outer Parliamentary seats of the State.
The aspiring candidates include sitting Lok Sabha MP of the party Dr T Meinya, K Saratchandra of Thoubal district, L Tilotama of Langthabal A/C and Mairembam Bishajit of Moirang have applied party tickets to contest in the election so far while the eight applicants for the Outer seat included sitting MP Thangso Baite, Ex-Minister DD Thaisii, ex-MLA Janghemlung Panmei, JL Sumi, Chairman of ADC Churachandpur Langkhanpao Guite, Miss Wungngailun Tonsing akias Lulun d/o Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Ngahchumi Chongloi and Wilupou Newmai.
After a meeting of the Ticket Committee of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on October 21, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Deputy Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who is also the President of MPCC have been entrusted with the task of finalising the candidates in consultation with the Central leaders of the party.
Accordingly, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today left for the National Capital.
It may be noted here that AICC had already taken a decision for giving party tickets to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha election to only sitting MPs who have no criminal records and the same had been communicated to the respective leaders of the party units at the State level.
So, there is high chances of the two sitting MPs namely Dr T Meinya of Inner seat and Thangso Baite of Outer seat getting the party tickets to contest in the election.
While at the National capital, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh is also likely to take up the issues of absence of adequate godowns for storing foodgrains in connection with implementation of the Food Security Act and the border fencing with the Central leaders of the party.
