Khuga Bn recoups more than Rs 2 crore for ex-servicemen

Khuga Battalion under the aegis of Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles has recouped more than Rs 2 crore for ex-servicemen and veer naris of the district on account of their pension anomalies, said a statement of the PIB (Defence Wing) today.
Assam Rifles in order to reach out to the ex-servicemen and veer naris of Churachandpur district had opened 'Ex-Servicemen Grievances Cell' or 'Suvigya Cell' at Khuga.
Various teams were formed and sent to villages for providing wide publicity about the initiative undertaken, so that maximum ex-servicemen and veer naris can be benefited, said the statement.
Till date, Khuga Battalion has taken up 364 cases of pension anomalies in respect of ex-servicemen and veer naris with Government Treasury and banks concerned to rectify the discrepancy and release the amount as per entitlement.
The overall reimbursement due to ex-servicemen and veer naris amounts to Rs 3,21,31,159.Out of total, Rs 2,63,74,888 have been credited to pension accounts of 297 ex-servicemen, said the statement.
Further, to reaffirm the commitment towards the welfare of ex-servicemen and to guide the them toward better utilization of the amount reimbursed, an ex-servicemen felicitation and interaction was conducted at Khuga.
More than 182 ex-servicemen and veer naris attended the function and shared their experiences and lauded the AR.
During the event, a talk was also delivered on various Government schemes and admission process of Sainik/Military School.
'Mobile Interactive Terminal for Rural Areas' (MITRA) was placed during the interaction to benefit the wards of ex-servicemen.
A Model Career Counselling Cell constructed at Khuga for the benefit of local youth was also inaugurated, said the statement.
