Imphal, August 20 2022:
While informing that the Agriculture Department has everything in place to provide the requisite quantity of fertilisers to the farmers, Agriculture director N Gojendro has appealed to the farmers to contact the department for any such requirement, while cautioning that the department shall not be responsible if the farmers were to provide their Aadhaar and patta details to a completely unrelated person(s).
Speaking to newspersons on Saturday afternoon, director N Gojendro explained that the department does not give out the fertiliser in the absence of farmland patta and Aadhaar details of the owner, something which has been continuously reminded to farmers through the media for quite some time.
However, some farmers instead of contacting the department have been giving away to unrelated person (s)who collect the requisite documents for submitting the same to the department.
The department does not accept such submissions, he said, while adding the farmers can procure the fertilisers from the depart ment after examination of their Aadhaar and patta details.
Commenting on news reports regarding shortage of fertilisers in Awang Potsangbam and Khongampat areas, Gojendro informed that around 44,000 bags have been distrib uted to farmers and farmer clubs of various districts in Imphal West district, recognised by the respective local MLAs.
On top of this, the district agriculture officers have distributed a total of 7513 urea bags to the remaining farmers, he added.
