Andro denizens threaten to boycott Sangai Fest

Various clubs, organizations and women folks of Andro have threatened to boycott the ensuing Sangai Festival to be started from November 21 at Hapta Kangjeibung, if the government does not repair deplorable roads that lead to historical tourist centers in the constituency before the commencement of the festival.
They also warned of prohibiting tourists from entering the Constituency for visiting the
tourist sites.
Members of various clubs and organizations of Andro along with a media team inspected condition of roads that lead to historical tourist centers including Govindajee Temple at Kaina.
Poirou Khongjin Pioneers' Youth Club and Bright Youth Organization, Angtha urged the government to repair the road stretch along the temple before the commencement of the festival.
N Brojendro, president of Poirou Khongjin Pioneers' Club lamented that the road stretch has been filled with dust in absence of blacktop along it, causing inconveniences to passerby including tourists and demanded the government to repair the road at the earliest.
L Sanahanbi, vice-president of Bright Youth Organization said that Angtha-Kaina road is in dilapidated state due to the lack of attention and made a fervent appeal to the government to restore the road stretch as early as possible.
Asem Ibetombi, president of Apunba Nupi Khunnai Lamjing Meira Lup, Imphal East pointed out that Imphal-Yairipok road where people of Andro; Wangkhem and Heirok Constituency pass everyday has been reduced to deplorable condition and expressed her desire for expansion of the road to ease traffic congestion.
There is no road in Thoubal and Khangabok where blacktop has been not done.
However, the government is not showing keen to repair roads in Andro Constituency where there are many historical tourist centers, she contended.
