One day awareness & orientation programme held

The Manipur State Commission for the Scheduled Tribes (MSCST) has organized a one day Awareness cum Orientation Programme on the theme "Constitutional and statutory rights of the scheduled tribes androles of MSCST" at DRDA Hall, Senapati, today.
Speaking on the occasion, Somorjit Salam, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati said that though different welfare schemes and projects are taken up in the region of scheduled tribes, many people are still living below poverty line and need collective efforts of the Government and the public to develop the region Ramkiang Huchamjinang Gonmei, IAS (Retd), Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for the Scheduled Tribes (MSCST) also spoke at the event.
Manipur State Commission for the Scheduled Tribes (MSCST) was constituted under the Manipur State Commission for the Scheduled Tribes Act, 2014.Dr Thajamanbi Yumkham, Legal Expert, MSCST presented papers during the programme as a resource person.
Discussion and interaction was also held as part of the programme.
MSCST members Dr Simpson Sareo and Dr John H Pulamte along with other District Level Officers also attended the programme.
Kangpokpi: On the other hand, a one day awareness and orientation programme on the theme "Constitutional and Statutory Rights of the Scheduled Tribes" was held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangopkpi District, today.
The programme organised by Manipur State Commission for the Scheduled tribes (MSCST) along with District Administration, Kangopkpi was attended by RH Gonmei, Chairperson MSCST, Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, Deputy Commissioner Kangokpi, Dr Simpson Sareo, Dr John H Pulamte and Dr Thajamanbi Yumkham as dignitaries.
Members of Kuki Inpi Manipur and District Level Officers of the district also attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, RH Gonmei said that the commission had been working with full commitment for the welfare of the schedule tribes in the State since its inception on November 1, 2016 and had received some grants from the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University.
Earlier, a training programme for the Assembly Level Trainers and District Nodal Officers for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election was also held at the same venue.
