Shot dead, JAC seeks justice

Bishnupur, November 09 2020:
A 26 year-old scrap collector was shot dead by unidentified armed men at the inter-village road near Utlou Lairembi bridge under Nambol Police Station, this morning.
According to police, the incident happened at around 8 am .
The locals came across the dead body with a bullet injury on his neck a few meters away from the rickshaw he used for collecting scraps.
Acting on the information given by the locals, a team of Nambol police rushed to the spot and cordoned the area to prevent people from going near the body.
Later, a team of State forensic experts also arrived at the spot and conducted an inquest of the body and the nearby areas.
According to the Aadhaar card found during the inquest, the deceased has been identified as Sabir Seikh (26) S/o Sentu Seikh of West Bengal presently staying at Hatta.
The body has been deposited at RIMS morgue for postmortem.
A case has also been registered at Nambol Police Station for investigation.
Meanwhile, a JAC has been formed seeking justice for Sabir Seikh.
In a statement, the committee stated that a memorandum will be submitted to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to prosecute the culprits involved at the earliest.
The JAC also appealed to the authorities concerned to give admissible ex-gratia to the family members of the deceased and make an arrangement for transporting the body to West Bengal.
